Guild Sculpture Reveal Their Latest Creation

We at Guild are delighted to unveil our collaboration with internationally renowned garden designer Andy Sturgeon, the 'energy wave' sculpture at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2012.

May 17, 2012 - PRLog -- The sculpture, formed from over 2,000 laser cut, irregular copper rings is designed to kinetically sweep through the Garden creating energy, patterns of light, adding form and texture.

Handmade by Guild craftsmen, the 'energy wave' is finished in a rich copper patina to compliment the 'arts and crafts' theme at the core of the garden's design.

"One of the major elements of the arts and crafts movement was jewellery so I wanted this sculpture to feel like a piece of jewellery. It’s very elegant, you can see the very fine workmanship that’s gone into it."   Andy Sturgeon.

At Guild our philosophy is to create sculptures which harmonize with their surroundings rather than pure focal point forms. All our sculptures are individually designed to compliment, not dominate, their environment, to take on the natural forms and colours around them. Guild's first commission from Andy Sturgeon was to build his 'incomplete egg' for the Big Egg Hunt in London.  This was later auctioned for £10,500, benefiting two charities, Action For Children and Elephant Family.

Following this success Andy commissioned Guild to create the sculpture for Chelsea. The styling of the egg acted as a precursor for the design of the 'energy wave' sculpt, only this time, measuring 56sq.metres, it was on a much grander scale.

"We at Guild Sculpture are excited to showcase the 'energy wave' sculpture at what is the greatest garden show in the world. We can't wait to see how the sculpture reacts with light, water and nature around it. Our aim has always been to produce sculptures whose form works in harmony with it's surroundings and accentuate the flow of nature around them. Working with the amazing Andy Sturgeon has been an absolute pleasure and we have him to thank for championing us at Chelsea."   Graham Barrow, Guild Sculpture.

Guild are a band of three, a designer, computer modeler and fabricator all hailing from Ireland.  With a shared vision and desire to create a contemporary sculpture range.
Bringing together a wide range of skills our portfolio aims to be bold and ambitious. Using metal as our primary medium we treat each sculpture with a wide range of finishes that allow them to mature in a harmonious way with their surrounding landscape.

Guild offer a free design service which couldn't be easier to use. Prospective clients simply send photographs of the area in which the sculpture would be located to freedesign@guildsculpture.com
We then design and model their bespoke sculpture in 3D for their approval.

Looking to the future our aim is to collaborate on further garden designs and produce sculptures for public, private and corporate clients.
