May 16, 2012 - PRLog -- The 2012 Los Angeles Music Awards has announced the formal nomination of Stevie Hawkins for its 22nd annual event in two awards categories, "Male Singer/Songwriter" and the prestigious top award "Record Of The Year", for the album "What The Funk?". The LA Music Awards nominations marks Hawkins' third time for awards selection this year. In February, Hawkins took home the “Best Jazz Artist” trophy at the Artists In Music Awards in Hollywood. In April, Hawkins triumphed at the Indie Music Channel Awards in Hollywood, winning the “Best Male Blues Artist”, award for the song "Everything Is Subject To Change", co-written with Charlotte Hannon.

Al Bowman, Executive Producer of the 22nd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, publicly presented Stevie Hawkins with official 'Certificates of Nomination' for the two awards. Bowman conducted the formal presentation Sunday, April 29, 2012, on the red carpet at the Indie Music Channel Awards, at the House of Blues in West Hollywood.

When asked about Stevie Hawkins' nominations for his new "What The Funk?" CD, Bowman says, "This is some of the best music I have heard in over two decades. I just love the record. I have listened to the entire album several times now, and it is smokin' hot, an amazing piece of work. Finally, someone is tapping into the real roots of funk and soul, producing and bringing back music that is human, not computer generated. The performances and songwriting is amazingly good. Stevie's nominations for record of the year, and male singer/songwriter of the year, at this year's LA Music Awards, are justly deserved".

After Hawkins' presentation of the nomination certificates and photo shoot with Mr. Bowman, Hawkins said, "God is good. This is an extraordinary honor and industry statement. I'd like to thank Charlotte Hannon lyric co-writer, the fabulous musicians, and others who contributed to the making of the album “What The Funk?”, without whom, this would not be happening. So much love, artistry, and authenticity was put into the body of this retro-oriented work. Sincere and gracious thanks are conveyed to Al Bowman and the LA Music Awards panel for the nominations. Thanks also to Craig Sumpter at Dr. Martens Airwair for supplying the cool looking and comfortable footwear worn at events, and to English Laundry by Christopher Wicks for making the stylish shirts that I wear. Thus far, 2012 has been an interesting journey relating to the new album release. We remain in anticipation of what the Universe holds in store".

All in, this year's November 15th Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards and Los Angeles Music Awards red carpet gala at the Avalon Theater will be spectacular, showcasing some of the best talent from around the world. Over 100 members of the international press and media cover the red carpet and interior events to include; E1News Daily, Daily Celeb, Wire Image, PR Newswire, Music Connection Magazine, and Los Angeles television news outlets who converged on the event to catch a glimpse of many notable celebrities in attendance.

"Independent artists have few opportunities to exhibit their talents before decision-making film and music industry pros, mainstream media, press, and a large diverse audience", Al Bowman stated, "that is why the LA Music Awards has become an increasingly important venue. Artists, their sponsors, producers and publicists, can take advantage of de-emphasizing the actual awards, with their opportunity to draw industry attention and focus upon star performance qualities and writing capabilities. Further, garnering legitimate mass international press and publicity that is priceless and vital to them in the advancement and marketing of their career. Plus, the broad-reach advertising visibility and publicity for their sponsor's brand or products".

Regarding a live performance with his band at the awards, Hawkins said, "We are in hopes of securing a slot. Playing at the event would be a lot of fun. High-profile press, media, film and music industry people will be in attendance at the event, so a performance slot would be exceptional promotion and exposure for us. We're seeking company or corporate sponsorship for the band in order to capitalize on what would be a mutually beneficial broad advertising and marketing reach, enhancing the publicity opportunities for a sponsor and my band from the LAMA, to include performing at the event. My camp is working to make this happen".

Some of the honor recipients and attendees at this year's gala will be, Stevie Wonder, Verdine White - Earth Wind & Fire, John Waite, cast of the film The Hunger Games, Lily Tomlin, The Stanley Kramer Library, Madonna and Monte Pittman, Jason Becker, Brian May - guitarist for Queen, cast of Twilight and others.

There will be two preliminary events leading up to the November 15th main event. On June 14th is the LA Music Awards Nominee Night at the Whiskey A Go-Go, where nominees will have a personal introduction to the voting panel, perform in front of full house, presentation of nomination(s) on stage, multiple press and publicity photo opportunities, public announcement of artist category ballot placement, and video capture of the event performance. Thursday September 27th, also at the Whiskey A Go-Go, is the LA Music Awards Voting Party, where sponsored nominees will perform, and fans and panelists will vote for this year's awards winners.

The 22nd Annual Los Angeles Music Awards will be presented in 2012 at the red carpet event held in Hollywood at the historic Avalon Theater on November 15th.
