All-new Mazda CX-5 goes on sale at Romford Mazda

May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- The first of Mazda’s sixth generation models will go on sale later on this month at Romford Mazda; it is the Mazda CX-5 compact crossover. There is a lot of excitement and anticipation surrounding the CX-5; it marks the beginning of a new era for the Japanese brand. Unlike most car manufacturers Mazda has opted not to invest in hybrid technology yet, Mazda believes more fuel efficiency can be derived from the traditional combustion engine.

The Japanese car maker intends to sell 4,000 units of the CX-5 in the first year; at its launch there will be 18 models to choose from. These 18 models will be made up of two engines, three power output levels and the choice of 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.
Within the 2-wheel drive model range there is a 2.0 litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine which outputs 165ps, as standard it is fitted with a six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is recorded at 9.0 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph. Official fuel consumption figures are 47.1 on the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.

85% of UK customers are expected to opt for the 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D turbo diesel model; it comes with either 150 or 175 PS. The highly fuel efficient diesel engine can be specified with either he six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or the SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions. This particular model comes with the option of either 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.

Standard features of the CX-5 include 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/65 R17 tyres, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, integrated Bluetooth system, cruise control, 5.8-inch colour display screen and Mazda’s Multimedia Commander.
Sport models comes with the addition of 19-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 R19 tyres, Bi-Xenon headlights with adaptive front lighting system, reversing camera and premium Bose audio system with nine speakers. Top of the range Nav models can be fitted a TomTom driven system with advance lane guidance and IQ routes as an optional extra.
