June 13, 2012 - PRLog -- San Francisco Bay Area stage director and actor, John DeGaetano has released the new play The Fat Man for theater companies to produce on stage, upon request. The play, also now available on Amazon in paperback, brings an unusual twist to an old time radio show production. Everything you’ve ever known to expect from a somewhat strange screwball comedy is here as the cast of characters nervously prepare for a live radio broadcast. Seemingly many issues are uncovered as the cast frantically attempts to iron out the kinks in the script, sound cues, as well as their lives during an authentic mystery rehearsal complete with commercials.

"Entertaining for all ages, the colorful characters with odd personalities are memorable as you grow to love them in a story that lightly touches on politics, chronic disorders and what reaching for stardom is really like. The tension magnifies in the story when it becomes apparent that a new media is beginning to grow in popularity... a media called the television," says John DeGaetano author of the play. "The unit set is an easy production to construct and stage in what looks like a dingy old basement on the outskirts on New York City. Add a few microphones, a couch, sound effects table, in an area cluttered with props and you got the idea."

John has recently released several new original scripts for the stage; Along with the hilarious antics in - "The Fat Man" comes another comedy - "A Situation in Safe Haven," the screwball comedic courtroom drama - "Once Upon a Crime," real life social issues in "Average Joe" and an all-new adventure for Sherlock Holmes in "Sherlock Holmes and the Princess Jewel." Currently all plays are available in paperback on Amazon.com

Mr. DeGaetano is the author of several condensed version self help books that cover business and artistic topics as well in addition to being involved in musical theater most of his life. His directorial credits include the productions; Cats, Pirates of Penzance, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chicago and has assisted with numerous other productions such as Miss Saigon along with Radio and Television work.
