GAI Consultants Acquires Orlando-based Bellomo-Herbert and Company, Inc.

May 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Orlando, Fla. – GAI Consultants, Inc. (GAI) – a national engineering and environmental consulting firm – announced it has acquired Orlando-based Bellomo-Herbert and Company, Inc. (BH) to provide a broader range of landscape architectural talent and ingenuity. BH is a landscape architectural firm specializing in the planning and design of active, passive, and urban parks; environmental learning centers; commercial; hospitality projects; native gardens; streetscapes; urban planning; educational facilities; and construction services.

“We have shared an excellent working relationship with BH, and partnered with them on many projects over a number of years,” said GAI President and CEO Gary DeJidas, P.E. “By formalizing and strengthening our relationship, we can more effectively contribute and coordinate on community development and public/private initiatives.”

Established in 1990, BH’s landscape design projects range from large multi-use sites to small intimate spaces. Research of lifestyles, and landscape technologies coupled with a deep understanding of how people use outdoor spaces, guides BH’s unique design process. BH’s landscape architectural projects have received state and national recognition for creative design, innovative excellence and value added solutions.

Principals Frank Bellomo, RLA and Glenn Herbert, FASLA said the acquisition is, “…a perfect opportunity to accelerate our vision and leadership in the professional design and engineering industry.  It not only adds to the expansion of our presence in the Southeast, allowing us to attract additional clients and talent, but it gives us the additional resources to provide professional design and engineering services.”  

As part of the arrangement, BH will operate as Bellomo-Herbert, A GAI Company, serving its current clients while pursuing opportunities both jointly and separately of GAI.  Later this year, BH will relocate its staff to The GAI Building in downtown Orlando.

Bellomo-Herbert is GAI’s fourth acquisition in 2012, preceded by the acquisition of Metz and Associates in central Florida, Orlando-based Real Estate Research Consultants, Inc., and the Dubois, Pa. firm of Lee Simpson and Associates, Inc.  GAI has more than tripled its domestic presence during the past decade and currently operates 26 offices nationwide.
