About Stand Up Paddle Boarding:
Stand Up Paddle Boarding, also known as SUP, is the fastest growing outdoor recreational sport in the world. A combination of surfing and canoeing or kayaking, this sport originated in Hawaii, experienced a resurgence less than a decade ago, and has quickly spread worldwide. Using a canoe-like paddle and standing atop a special larger version of a traditional surfboard, paddlers propel themselves through the water with side to side paddle strokes. Stand up paddling offers a core workout with a cadence much like swimming or cycling. Many people who are unable to run or cycle because of injuries or arthritis, find that they are able to become active again by paddling. Paddlers are exploring bodies of water from a new perspective around the world.
