IGGPRA Offers Seminar on Going and Getting Green

The public is invited to a wine grape growers seminar on Thursday, June 7, 2012

PASO ROBLES, Calif. (May 10, 2012) - The public is invited to join the Independent Grape Growers of the Paso Robles Area (IGGPRA) for a seminar on Going and Getting Green. The seminar will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at J. Lohr Winery Wine Center, located at 6169 Airport Rd. Paso Robles, Calif.

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from two speakers, the first being Margie Lindquist, District Conservationist for Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) on USDA’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQuIP), a program that provides financial assistance to farmers and ranchers undertaking a variety of conservation programs.  They could include projects designed to improve soil and water conservation, as well as the protection of wildlife habitats.  Margy Lindquist will talk about the program, eligibility requirements, and the process for getting projects approved and funded.

The second speaker will be Steve Peck, Winemaker for J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines talking about a winemaker’s process for choosing fruit and the elements that make for a mutually beneficial relationship between the grower and the winemaker. 

The seminar will be FREE for IGGPRA members and $20 for non-members.
