Sps Lux Holds Facebook Contest For Breast Cancer Survivors

May 10, 2012 - PRLog -- Breast Cancer survivors in Tulsa will find it easy to unwind and relax the month of Mother’s Day, thanks to a special online event hosted by Spa Lux of Tulsa. The day spa recently announced it is hosting a Pink Ribbon FaceBook contest from May 4th to May 31st, offering free services to women who are breast cancer survivors.
 
“To me, the month of Mother’s Day is the perfect time to reach out to women who’ve overcome so much with this disease,” said Taras Tikhomorov, owner of Spa Lux. “We loved the idea of a contest because it allows our followers to participate and choose people to bless with a little pampering. There’s an absolute joy I feel when I can help others and provide a little comfort after so much pain and hardship.”  

To join the contest, Facebook fans can visit Spa Lux’s website at http://www.spalux.org and nominate a Breast Cancer Survivor by sharing their loved one’s story in 200 words or less. A free Spa Lux package, featuring a choice of massage therapy, facials, manicure, pedicure and more, will be awarded based on the number of Likes from fans and followers.    

Taras and his wife, Cynthia, came up with the idea of a Facebook Contest after getting to know many of their clients who were themselves, breast cancer survivors.  

“I know many of these women personally and know they’ve been through more than we can imagine,” says Cynthia Tikhomorov. “I’m thrilled we have the opportunity to celebrate their lives in this way and hopefully bring a little joy by offering them prizes for free treatments.” 

According to the American Cancer Society, there are an estimated 12 million cancer survivors in the U.S. today with breast cancer survivors making up the largest group. More and more women are surviving breast cancer due to better technology and treatments, in addition to a greater focus on early detection.

Tikhomorov says he’s thrilled with the chance to reach out to survivors and provide them with an atmosphere to truly relax and renew their mind and body.
“Our goal is simply to show these women we care,” says Tikhomorov. “The spirit of these women is just incredible.  They’re a true inspiration, and we want to do everything possible to help them relax while showing them how valued and special they really are.”
