Eagle Scout Award To Be Presented To Matt Bell

May 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Matthew Jeffrey Murphy Bell, of 10420 NE 47th Place, Kirkland, Washington, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.  Bell will be recognized in ceremonies on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Holy Family Kirkland, Washington.

A member of Holy Family Kirkland Troop 615, Bell is one of approximately 4 percent
of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Scoutmaster Peter Kures.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church-related service project to earn his Eagle; Bell chose to construct a new protective fence at the HFK Youth Center.  He has served as Senior Patrol Leader, is a member of the Order of the Arrow, and received Camp Meriwether’s Vi Et Consillio Award. Bell joins other outstanding American citizens who have become Eagle Scouts, among them former President Gerald R. Ford, Jr., astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, cinematographer Steven Spielberg, and the head of the F.B.I., William Sessions.

Bell is a member of Holy Family Kirkland and is a freshman at Lakeside High School, where he plays guitar in the jazz band and is on the lacrosse team.

He is the son of Colleen and Jeff Bell of Kirkland, Washington.  He is the grandson of Nancy Murphy of Jeromesville, Ohio and Phyllis and Rodney Miller of Centerville, Ohio.
