Aces Boxing Club Launches Boxing For MMA Program
Aces Boxing Club in Boonton has launched a new program teaching boxing for MMA fighters
The Boxing for MMA program will be run by owner of Aces Boxing Club Joe Zabry. Zabry is an 11-year Air Force veteran and has over 20 years of boxing and full contact fighting experience.
“Every MMA fight starts with the fighters standing up and throwing hands, so being a skilled puncher can be a huge advantage,” said Zabry. “Many boxing coaches try to train MMA fighters to fight inside the ring, when that is a different type of boxing than is inside the cage. MMA fighters need to learn how to bully box and punch in the clinch. It’s a whole other game.”
For over seven years Zabry competed within various full contact fighting circuits, and carries his experience over to teaching mixed martial artists how to use boxing in MMA.
Aces Boxing Club’s Boxing for MMA program runs every Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. It costs $29 per month and fighters are encouraged to stay following the program for sparring and the open gym from noon to 4 p.m.
“The open sparring will give the MMA fighters a chance to put what they learn into practice so they become familiar with the punches,” said Zabry. “This is the ideal program for fighters who want to maximize their boxing inside the cage.”
Aces Boxing Club specializes in one-on-one training for both beginners and experienced boxers, allowing individuals to train at their own level. They also offer group training, which allows individuals to learn from the trainer as well as other peers in the group.
The 3,000+ square foot boxing club offers the feel of an old school boxing gym coupled with the latest advancements in sports conditioning and training.
The new boxing club offers a variety of training programs for kids and adults of all ages and athletic levels, from the novice boxer to the seasoned professional.
