1.   Request a free copy of your credit reports, Experian, Equifax & Trans Union at http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com

2.   Analyze each of your credit reports very carefully and write letters to the CRA’s, Credit Reporting Agencies, disputing the negative items that you believe may be inaccurate, incorrect or reported in error.

3.   It may take approximately 30 days to receive your revised credit reports. When you receive your updated report(s) make sure you review them carefully and make notes of the changes that have taken place. You can repeat Step Two and re-dispute the negative items or start Step Three and contact the (source) the company that is reporting the negative information about you.

4.   Contact the  source in writing and request verification of the questionable account(s), if the source verifies the account(s) and monies are owed, negotiate the debt(s) and upon settlement agreement(s), request the source to either delete the negative item(s) or report the account(s) as paid in full to the CRA’s.

5.   When you negotiate settlement(s) with your creditors, collection companies and/or law firms, make sure you get everything in writing as to the specifics for the agreement negotiated. When you have verifiable documentation from the source, recontact the CRA’s in writing and enclose any/all documentation to support your claim for positive credit report updates.
