Riverhead Kennel Club Match Dog Show to be Held May 12 at Long Island Game Farm
More than 200 Dogs Expected to Take Part in this Special Competition
More than 200 dogs are expected to take part in this special competition. Although the dogs will be judged based on American Kennel Club standards, this is an exhibition, so no points will be awarded.
Obedience judging starts at 9:30 a.m. for the Utility, Open and Novice categories. In Obedience, dogs must perform commands given by their masters. This is followed by the judging for Rally in the Novice, Advanced and Excellent categories. In a rally, the dog and its owner must run through a course with a variety of designated stations that tell them the next skill to be performed.
Junior Showmanship judging starts at 11:30 a.m. Judging on conformation — in which dogs will be judged based on their characteristics which most closely conform to AKC standards — begins at noon. Judged categories at this time include Hounds & Pee Wee Junior Showmanship;

Entry fees are $10 per entry and $5 for Junior Showmanship. Those who wish to attend the event as spectators must park on the left side of the field and bring their own food.
