May 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Swansea’s Dylan Thomas Centre is to host the inaugural Under Milk Wood Day on Saturday 12 May.

The event will include displays, recordings, films, and the premier of a new play, Love the Words and is scheduled to be an annual fixture in the Dylan Thomas Centre calendar.

An animated film of Under Milk Wood will also feature starting with a Welsh language version at 10.30am and an English version starting at 12noon. Both animated film screenings are free.

The premier of a new play Love the Words starts at 2pm.

Devised by Fluellen and written by Francis Hardy, Love The Words looks at the origin of Under Milk Wood, its influences and inspiration.

It also recreates that first ever performance and discovers the stories behind those involved on that most iconic day for Welsh literature.

Jo Furber, Literature Officer at the Dylan Thomas Centre said “The first stage performance of Under Milk Wood took place in May 1953 at the Poetry Centre in New York.

“It included Dylan with five experienced actors and members of staff at the Centre. Their final instruction from Dylan before going on stage was to “love the words”.

Tickets for Love The Words are £6, £4.20 for concessions and £2.80 for PTL. They are available from 01792 463980 or http://www.dylanthomas.com.
