Military Heroes Invited to Ride a Horse For Free
Operation Free Ride is a collaboration between breed associations and equestrian organizations, uniting in support of our nation's troops and their families. Interested families should register at www.operationfreeride.com.
"This is the program for families that have ever wanted to ride a horse or experience the special bond and friendship of horses," said Sydney Knott, president and executive director of Horses4Heroes. "Horses certainly have proven their abilities to help heal the wounds of war and separation."
In order to make the dream of a free horseback ride a reality, Horses4Heroes is reaching out to equestrian facilities throughout the country. In addition, the organization will use its own national network of equestrian facilities. So far, 150 facilities in 39 states plus Canada have agreed to swing open their barn doors to military heroes and their families.
"This program will give the wonderful world of horses to these men, women and their children who have sacrificed so much on our behalf. With thousands of troops returning home, programs like Operation Free Ride are important to PTSD sufferers, Wounded Warriors, caregivers and their families," added Knott.
