Violeta Galagarza and Rosie Quinones Announce The Grown and Sexxi Workshop Series for Women
The weekly sessions, consisting of a variety of dance styles, including Hip-Hop, Latin and House, will take place every Thursday beginning May 10-30 from 7-9 p.m. at Draper Hall, 1918 E. 99th Street. Each class will conclude with a 30-minute health, nutrition, sensuality, and spirituality segment hosted by a special guest speaker. Galagarza and Quinones created the workshop series to provide women with an opportunity to express themselves through dance in a comfortable and fun atmosphere.
"We feel it's important to motivate women to tap into their inner-self in an adult environment and help them to recognize that they still got it," says Galagarza, a mother of three and a former Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater student who has been dancing since age nine. "My deep love and appreciation for music and dance will never diminish and absolutely no one should ever compromise the feeling of liberation that dance provides."
Galagaraza exclaims that her dance classes are all about releasing what's in one's spirit, regardless of age, weight or body type. She says, "We encourage the ladies out there to show up in their sweats, sneakers and tees and get ready to let loose on the dance floor!"
