May 4, 2012 - PRLog -- (Dallas, Texas) May 3, 2012 – Elsie the Cow has enjoyed a long history of touring America since she was first introduced as the symbol for Borden Dairy in 1938. The famously charming cow has traveled coast to coast, starred in a series of World’s Fairs, and appeared on the radio and television for decades. Today, Elsie celebrated a new national tourthrough the world of social mediawith her 25,000th Facebook fan.

Hitting 25,000 fans is a milestone for the working mom, who this year is marking the 70thanniversary of her first tour with the dairy in 1942.

“I’m thrilled to have so many fans,” said Elsie, a self-professed Mom-on-a-mission to bring all moms together to help our kids grow up healthy and strong. “It just goes to show you that no matter how times change the excitement of connecting with people stays the same.”

Elsie’s Facebook page is packed with the same sort of savvy advice, useful information and sense of fun that Elsie's always been known for. In addition to delicious recipes, updates on the daily life with husband Elmer and children Beaulah, Beauregard and twins Larabee and Lobelia, she's also turning out wise and witty “Elsie-isms."

Elsie has been a famous brand ambassador for Borden since she was first introduced in 1938 when she appeared in magazines, newspapers, and on billboards. She made her first live appearance at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York and began her film career in 1940 with a role in the motion picture “Little Men.”

Elsie is also a patriotic cow; in 1942 she toured the country with her daughter, Beulah, to support the war effort by promoting war bonds. When she gave birth to her son Beauregard at Macy’s in New York, a million people entered the contest to name him.

In 2000, Elsie was named one of the Top Ten advertising icons of all time by Advertising Age. And today, Elsie and her family still go on tour to tell families about the benefits of drinking delicious, creamy Borden® milk.

“It’s great to share what’s going on in my day and ask moms about their favorite recipes or what their kids do to make them smile and laugh. My Facebook page is a great way for me to be in touch with people no matter where I am,” said Elsie.
