The top 50 places to visit in France and the UK while caravanning and camping

May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- It all started so small with an idea to list the top 10 places to visit in France and the UK to give caravanners and campers an idea of what was out there for them to see and generate some discussion about travel and holidays. It quickly grew though as we started to contact various tourism offices, government agences and statistics offices and before we knew what was happening we had lists on lists of facts and figures and they are still coming in!

So we thought "what the heck" lets expand it a bit, so we quickly decided to pull Paris and London out of the mix and treat them seperately and create a top 50 plus of the top attractions and places to visit for both Countries excluding their Capital Cities, which we will publish seperately. We have already published Paris and this can be seen on SiteSee the new section of Touring and Tenting.

If we said "what is the most visited attraction in France" I bet most of you could hazard a guess and that it could have something to do with round ears and cartoons but you may not know what sits at say number 25 or number 38 on the SiteSee list.

Some of the top attractions and places to visit might be obvious but some maybe a suprise and we hope that those suprises might make you stop and think and maybe say "I wouldn't mind seeing that" as they did for us while we were working on them.

For example would you know that the Basilique de Lisieux in Normandy is at number 23 on our list with 725,000 visitors a year or that the Château and Museum of the Ducs de Bretagne in Nantes is at number...........? Hold on, can't give it all away now can I.

In a lead up to us publishing the top 50 attractions and places to visit we have started to compile and publish articles on each of the Regions which contain places on our main list plus little snippets of information that we hope will act as a taster for you and inspire some discussion and debate plus hopefully lead you to visit them. And therein lies the reason behind SiteSee. As caravanners ourselves we love to explore and part of our holiday is to visit new and interesting places and we hope that these articles will help you do the same or inspire you to tell us about your top attractions or places to visit in an area.

We hope you "think of an area or Region" and then think "I wonder what there is to see there" or you read one of our articles and think "I must see that! Lets go there this year"

SiteSee doesn't aim to tell you everything that is possible to do in a Region, it aims to give you a "taster" of that Region based on the "recorded" top visited places in France which we hope will inspire you to look further and maybe visit.
