Malaikha – Looking for companies to partner with

May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Malaikha is an international NGO in Zambia. The main venture of the organisation is a boarding school for blind and visually impaired children with and without multiple disabilities in the Southern Province of Zambia, close to Mazabuka town. The Malaikha project is the ambitious project of the young Austrian Barbara Lechner, who is organising the school alone. The construction for the international boarding school has already started in 2009, anyway, it will still take some years, until everything is really complete according to the plans. Anyway, some of the main buildings got ready, so that the school could open in September 2011. At the moment Malaikha has around 20 pupils in all age groups, since the youngest boy, Jackson, is just 3 years old, and the oldest student, Nancy, is already 29 years old.
The students are coming from all over Zambia and also some kids from South Africa would like to join Malaikha. Almost all the kids have something in common: They did not get any proper education before joining Malaikha, since there are no proper schools for them in Zambia. Malaikha has, for example, a whole group of kids enrolled who came from a special unit at a public school, who spend over 10 years in this school without getting any single Mathematic lesson, thought by a teacher without teacher certificate. One girl was, for example, one term in a boarding school, where she did not bath the whole term, simply, because nobody assisted her. The girl is blind and also suffering from Cerebral Palsy, so she needs some assistance with some daily tasks. Two of the older girls are coming from villages, where they were only sitting at home before joining Malaikha and some unruly boys were taking advantage of their blindness and raped them, so they have already children on their own.
Malaikha is dependent on donations and the biggest problem is to raise the salaries for workers and teachers. Some kids are sponsored by sponsors from Europe, who are donating a monthly amount of money for their child. Now we are looking for companies or individuals who would help us with a cooperative partnership to pay each for the salary for one staff member. For one teacher it would be 150 Euro per month. For one assistant or other worker it would be 70 Euro per month. Please help and support!
