May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- (BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) April, 2012 -- Atlanta-based restaurant chain Tin Drum AsiaCafe (www.tindrumcafe.com) announced that it has opened its first restaurant in Birmingham at The Summit, 214 Summit Boulevard.  Unique to fast casual restaurants, Tin Drum offers a diverse health-conscious menu featuring items with Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian influences.

Founder Steven Chan, who opened his first Tin Drum in Atlanta in 2003, saw a great fit for his edgy, quick and health-conscious fare in the growing Birmingham community.

“Birmingham is such a vibrant city, and we look forward to serving its residents great-tasting food that reflects the growing trend of Asian-influenced menus,” said Chan.

Tin Drum’s Pan Asian menu features a wide variety of lunch and dinner options inspired by the bustling and delicious street food of Chan’s childhood in Hong Kong.  Choices include salads, curries, stir-fry options, noodle bowls and soups, along with signature items such as Tin Drum curry and the addictive crab and cheese spring rolls – the chain sells approximately 3,000 spring rolls per week.

Tin Drum is certified by Healthy Dining Finder (www.healthydiningfinder.com) and offers guests a variety of menu options to manage their diets, including a gluten-free menu.  The chain is also among the first in the country to offer the health-based software SmartMenu at kiosks in its restaurants.  Using the touchscreen-based ordering system, patrons can easily order based on individual dietary goals and receives recommendations created by diner recognition technology.  Most importantly, the credit card reader allows customers to choose and pay quickly.

Tin Drum is open Sunday thru Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.  The restaurant employs about 10 people.

Tin Drum began franchising its concept in 2011 and plans to double in size this year, with additional units in Atlanta, Athens and Augusta, Birmingham and throughout the Southeast.
