The Design Group will provide a full range of marketing services for Beta Pi Omega to build awareness of its philanthropy through scholarships, community service projects, mentoring programs for middle-school girls and furthering of the arts.
 
May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Little Rock, AR (April 17, 2012)— The Design Group, Arkansas’s leader in multicultural marketing, announces a new partner in the marketplace as it continues to target new segments in its messages to African Americans in central Arkansas.  The Design Group is now the Agency of Record for Beta Pi Omega (BPO), the Little Rock graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

The Design Group will provide a full range of marketing services for Beta Pi Omega as it works to build awareness of its philanthropy through college scholarships, community service projects with various charities, mentoring programs for middle-school aged girls and furthering of the arts.  

Tjuana Byrd, President of Beta Pi Omega, said this relationship will help strengthen her organization’s commitment to serve mankind and extend their presence in the community.

“We are excited to begin this new chapter with The Design Group. BPO hopes to build upon our foundation of community service and begin to showcase the good work my sorority sisters are doing in their neighborhoods, churches, schools and the larger Little Rock community,” Byrd said.

Myron Jackson, Chief Executive Officer at The Design Group, expressed his enthusiasm about the possibilities that arise out of this partnership.

Beta Pi Omega was chartered in Little Rock on March 13, 1937 by eleven college-educated Alpha Kappa Alpha women. Today, BPO boasts a membership of more than 150 women, including Colette Honorable, Chairman of the Arkansas Public Service Commission; Mary Louise Williams, past Pulaski County Quorum Court member; state Senator Linda Poindexter-Chesterfield; and Wilhelmina Lewellen, former state representative.  BPO also chartered three undergraduate chapters on the campuses of Philander Smith College in Little Rock, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, DC in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women with 260,000 members in graduate and undergraduate chapters in the United States, the U. S. Virgin Islands, the Caribbean, Canada, Japan, Germany, Korea and on the continent of Africa. Its membership is comprised of distinguished women who boast excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service.
