-- Many of us remember having a "metal mouth" full of shining silver braces sometime during our youth or childhood. It is almost rite of passage for many pre-teens and teenagers.
But some adults either never had the benefit of teeth straightening when they were younger, or in some cases, their teeth have shifted since orthodontic treatment, leaving them as crooked as before.
We've come a long way since the days of the "silver smile." For adults who want to straighten (or re-straighten)
their teeth, there are new and less conspicuous methods for teeth straightening than the old-fashioned mouth full of metal.
At my office, we offer the option of "invisible,"
removable teeth straightening via the Clear Correct system. These custom, personal aligners are made of clear, BPA-free plastic and are designed to be worn all day, but can be removed during meals and while brushing and flossing your teeth. As with traditional braces, Clear Correct can help correct a range of alignment problems, including overly crowded or spaced teeth and overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
After an initial visit to my office, during which we'll take X-rays and dental impressions to make a three-dimensional model of your mouth, we'll map out a custom treatment plan that is right for you. The treatment is graduated; by changing the aligners every couple of weeks and coming into the office every six weeks or so, you'll be steadily – and unobtrusively – shifting your teeth. Treatment lasts about a year for most adults.
Most people don't even notice that a person is wearing Clear Correct aligners. Smooth plastic causes less mouth discomfort than the metal brackets of conventional braces, and the aligners are easier to keep clean. Since they are removable, patients don't have to worry about eating certain foods.
Modern Dentistry is pleased to offer Clear Correct – a modern solution for correcting your teeth so that you can feel confident whenever you flash your smile.
