Why SMEs Should Look At Office Space Outside The City

New start-ups and entrepreneurs seldom have the funds available to invest in office space, particularly in the prestigious & desirable London areas. Thankfully, more feasible options are available...

May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Good news for small business owners and entrepreneurs – serviced office prices just outside the city are dropping, according to officebroker.com.

Costs per Month

Office space costs (per workstation) went down by an average of £8.00 per month in Greater London to £266.00 per month. But this still doesn’t offer the value available just outside the city, which has an average per-workstation cost of £247.00 – while still offering the benefits of convenient connections to London.

Unsurprisingly, Central London remained the most expensive area in the country to rent serviced offices, costing businesses an average of £634.00 per-workstation per month (a whopping rise from £470.00 in 2010). Employers in Edinburgh also have to dig deep into their pockets following an 80% increase in average per-workstation cost that now makes it the second most expensive area in Britain.

Despite this rise, Edinburgh had the largest increase in enquiry levels (+32%) of any other area in the study. In stark contrast, England in general suffered a dip in enquiries country-wide of 15%.

London Links Still Key

Start-ups, SMEs and entrepreneurs are beginning to realise the benefits of setting up base outside the City, and serviced offices supplied on a per-workstation basis provide smaller, more agile companies the flexibility they need to grow and adapt to changeable market climates whilst maintaining a crucial connection to London. St Albans, Potters Bar and Hatfield have proved popular with such clients by offering pre-furnished long and short term office space options with realistic price points and all the necessary amenities on hand.

In tough economic times, investments in business property are just not feasible in the early stages of growth so this is where serviced office rental really comes into its own. If you are considering renting offices on a short or long term basis we at Metropolitan House Serviced Offices in Potters Bar can provide flexible, unbranded office space which can be tailored to your requirements and business needs with access to fully furnished meeting rooms on site. Rental prices start as low as £180.00 per workstation (dependant on requirements) and benefit from 24 hour access, a breakout/kitchenette area and Potters Bar Railway Station just opposite the building with direct trains into the heart of London which make Metropolitan House an ideal option.
