Eight Scholarships Offered for Medical Office Career Courses

May 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Nationwide: Medical coding is one of the fastest growing careers in the United States, expected to grow an average of 21% per year according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The average wage for an individual working in the Health Information field is $15.50 per hour (USDOL OOH 2012), with some coders working from the comfort of their own home. Medical coding is one of the few careers that do not require a college education to obtain a certification. Individuals can sit for the national coding certification examinations and obtain their credentials with minimal specialized training.  

   Medical office specialists, also in high demand, are required to obtain more knowledge than ever to perform well in their positions.  With the increase in Federal mandates in the healthcare field, these workers are charged with much more than just answering phones and scheduling appointments.  “Nothing is simple in a medical office, each employee in the facility must obtain and maintain an expansive knowledge base in any position, even  those that seem unimportant to the patient” said Jennifer Roberts, MHA, CPC. “Practitioners depend on these key positions to keep the facility finances seamless, without a well trained staff, patient and financial flow could come to a halt”.

The Center for Health Career Success (CHCS) is currently offering eight full Medical Coding or Medical Office Specialist Course scholarships for the term beginning June 18, 2012.  The courses will be completed via distance education over a six month period. The center specializes in career enrichment courses and healthcare career consulting. Those interested must apply online at http://www.chcsedu.com to be considered.
