Fialkow Named Medical Director at Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute

Jonathan Fialkow, M.D., a partner with Cardiovascular Center of South Florida, a member of the HeartWell LLP group practice of cardiologists, has been named medical director of clinical cardiology for Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute.

May 1, 2012 - PRLog -- Jonathan Fialkow, M.D., a partner with Cardiovascular Center of South Florida, a member of the HeartWell LLP group practice of cardiologists, has been named medical director of clinical cardiology for Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute, announced Dr. Barry T. Katzen, founder and medical director of the Institute.  

     “It is extremely important that we have strong leadership in clinical cardiology to advance the Institute to its new vision and objectives, and feel confident that you will help us reach those goals,” wrote Dr. Katzen in a congratulatory letter.

     Dr. Fialkow, who is one of only 29 Florida lipidologists , or physicians with specialized training in cholesterol management and metabolic disorders like those that lead to diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  He is medical director of the Stress Lab, Electrocardiography and Cardiac Rehabilitation Services and the cardiology director of the Chest Pain Center at Baptist Hospital of Miami. He has special interest and extensive experience in cardiac prevention, recognition and management of lipid disorders, nutrition, exercise as well as other aspects of clinical cardiology, including hypertension, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure.

To work with the superb physicians, surgeons, nurses and staff at the Institute is a privilege,” said Dr. Fialkow.

     Dr. Fialkow is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Lipidology and certified by that organization. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology, and a member of the American Society of Nutrition.  He has carefully studied and analyzed the effectiveness of hundreds of popular diet plans and ways of eating.

     Dr. Fialkow is a co-founder and managing member of HeartWell (http://www.heartwell.com) , an affiliation of 19 cardiologists in six care centers throughout the Kendall area.   He earned his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. He completed a cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Fialkow has been a principal investigator in many major clinical trials in the cardiology arena.
He is fluent in English and Spanish.
