Toyota Boosts Quality Through Innovative Production Methods

That being said we are always excited to relay news that the Toyota brand is continuously finding ways to perfect our product and garantee quality and reliability.

Toyota has always had a stellar reputation for quality, but did experience a hiccup with recalls. These are now thought to be due from the fall in economy, thus a fall in the amount of production at Toyota. The Executive Vice President Atsushi Niimi explained that “we needed an assembly line that could respond to the ups and downs of production needs.” Toyota is now showing off its highly flexible assembly line that can grow or shrink over a weekend to adjust to demand.

Toyota Motor Corp. highlighted special stamping that allows car doors to be carved into molded shapes and instantaneous laser-welding that adds to the stability.

Instead of the layout that most car plants have of cars hanging from above, Toyota showed cars moving along the assembly line on stands with wheels. This technique will allow the line to be changed more quickly if needed. This technology aids in the requirements for models are ever changing and emissions improvements in engines coming so fast that speed in adjusting frequently is essential to minor parts changes.

The new stamping, which produces sharper shapes on car exteriors also demonstrates a new paint technology that allows different shadings without causing an uneven surface.

Toyota officials said they hope to make cars with custom paint jobs and contouring stamping to order one day.

Toyota’s slogan “making ever-better cars” seems to be living what they preach. We cannot wait to show off everything new coming out of the plant in our San Diego showroom.
