By: Bridge Communities Volunteers came from Comcast, NBC, TLN, Bridge Communities, Naperville Covenant Church and Mission Church in Roselle. The project included playground clean-up and repair, re-mulching, planting flowers, painting the Learning Resource Center and laundry room, and providing an overall outdoor spring cleaning. Volunteers also tilled and prepared a vegetable garden; plants will be donated by The Home Depot. Glendale Heights Mayor/Village President Linda Jackson attended the event and made a proclamation that April 21, 2012 was officially “Comcast Cares Day.” Other dignitaries on hand included Village Trustees Bill Schmidt and Michael Light, as well as Executive Assistant to the Mayor & Village Board Rebecca Tybor. “At Comcast, we are proud to improve the quality of life in the local communities where our customers and employees have lived and worked for nearly 50 years,” said John Crowley, Senior Vice President of Comcast in Illinois, NW Indiana and SW Michigan. “Over 67,000 Comcast and NBCUniversal employees, families and friends volunteered their time on approximately 670 projects across the country – and we were especially proud to give back to the Glendale Heights community this year.” This year marked the 11th anniversary of the annual Comcast Cares Day, a company-wide day of service. In the greater Chicagoland area, approximately 5000 volunteers provided service at nearly 100 different project sites throughout Illinois, northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan. Since 2001, more than 360,000 volunteers have donated over 2.1 million hours of service on nearly 3,500 projects across the country. Comcast Cares Day is one way that Comcast helps to power dreams and demonstrate a commitment to making a difference in the communities in which its employees live and work. End
