By: NACCSE Pieter is taking over the Presidency from Bernard Vanderlande, Tula International, who held the position for the past year. The appointment was confirmed at the Annual Members Meeting on April 19th 2012 by a unanimous vote and a heartfelt thank you goes out to Bernard Vanderlande for his constant enthusiasm, contribution and commitment to the Chamber. Bernard Vanderlande continues to be an active member of the board and stated: “I really enjoyed the experience and we made a lot of progress at the Chamber . Pieter van der Toorn will again bring the chamber to the next level. The chamber is fortunate to have him as its president for the next 12 months.” Pieter is President of Interface Services, a subsidiary of Interface, Inc., a world leader in the manufacture of environmentally friendly modular carpeting and has over 25 years of experience in various leadership positions in sales and marketing with Interface and Heuga. Pieter understands the importance of networking and finding like-minded individuals to come together and advance their mutual interests. Pieter: “We are committed to connecting businesses and helping to create business opportunities through our events and networks and want to help Dutch companies and Dutch executives in the Southeastern United States.” A native of The Hague, The Netherlands, Pieter started his Interface career with Heuga, a Dutch carpet tile company that Interface, Inc. acquired in 1988. Van der Toorn has served in a number of leadership positions in sales and marketing with Interface and Heuga since 1987. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President of Sales for the U.S. modular business. Van der Toorn has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Nijenrode, the Netherlands College of Business, and a Master’s degree in International Business Studies (MIBS) from the University of South Carolina. He earned his LEED® accreditation status in 2006 with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Pieter resides in Atlanta, GA with his wife, Deborah, and their two children, Megan and Nicholas.
