M.C. Sungaila Presents At Food, Drug And Medical Device Litigation Forum
M.C. Sungaila, appellate partner in Snell & Wilmer’s Orange County Office, recently spoke at the Food, Drug, and Medical Device Litigation Forum presented by HB Litigation in Minneapolis, MN.
This conference brought leading minds in the food, drug, and medical device industries together to address developing legal issues and trends that impact those industries. Conference speakers included judges, in-house counsel, and lawyers representing both plaintiffs and defendants. Sungaila spoke on a Supreme Court Litigation panel alongside Bob Peck of the Center for Constitutional Litigation, and moderated a judicial and in-house roundtable on ADR, class actions, and MDLs. Other panels at the conference addressed a variety of issues surrounding food, drug, and medical devices, including recent regulatory developments, marketing and labeling issues leading to litigation, crisis management issues, resolving claims and mass torts, and ethics in the industry.
Fortune 500 companies and leading international human rights organizations have relied on Sungaila, who has briefed, argued, and won appeals involving issues such as the scope of the duty to warn sophisticated users of product hazards, guidelines for admitting expert testimony, limits on the reach of medical monitoring claims, standards for interstate enforcement of noncompete agreements, and important rights for women and girls in California, nationally and internationally. She has been repeatedly named one of the “Top Women Lawyers and Litigators in California” by the Daily Journal, and The National Law Journal named her “Appellate Lawyer of the Week” for her amicus brief in the closely watched Wal-Mart v. Dukes U.S. Supreme Court class action case.
