Island Hospital Foundation “Puts on the Ritz” in Grand Style

April 25, 2012 - PRLog -- (Anacortes, WA)  “Puttin’ on the Ritz” was the theme for the 9th Annual Island Hospital Gala of Hope Auction, held on Saturday evening, April 21, 2012 at the Anacortes Transit Shed Events Center, which came alive with glamor and grandeur as supporters gathered to have fun and raise close to $200,000!

The evening commenced with the big band sound of The Sea Notes and an opportunity for guests to purchases chances to win any item in the live auction catalog in the “Golden Medallion Raffle”. In addition, there was an authentic “Diamond Raffle,” as Burton Jewelers donated a pair of diamond earrings valued at $4,000 or the same amount in credit.

This year’s extravaganza also featured the ‘Fly Boy Scotch and Cigar Tent,’ where guests could enjoy a single pour or a flight of top shelf scotches with a fine cigar.

Following a delicious dinner catered by City Caterers with complimentary wine from Cap Sante Marine, Ltd, it was auction time. 32 unique items were sold, including a trip to Cortona, Italy, and Hawaii. Island Hospital CEO Vincent Oliver joined the festivities as a ‘guest auctioneer,’ to the audience’s delight.

During the Heartstrings part of the auction, generous and compassionate supporters raised $60,000 for a new pharmacy in the new Merle Cancer Center.

Shellie Bogosian, the president of the Island Hospital Foundation, was filled with gratitude. “This year’s Gala Chairs, Coleen Craig and Dianne Kuhn, along with a team of dedicated volunteers were the backbone of this wonderful evening of fun and entertainment,” said Ms. Bogosian. “We are deeply grateful to our volunteers, and to our sponsors, supporters and the entire community.”
