Capital Sport Launches Themed Cycling Tours

April 25, 2012 - PRLog -- For 2012, we are introducing a select range of themed cycling tours which are self-guided. As we strive to keep our tours fresh and up to date with current developments, some of these will be offered for this season only.

Gourmet Tour: This two night tour is something special for those of us loving our food and combined with a gentle pedal, justifies the many gourmet opportunities enroute. Set in the garden of England where farm shops and orchards appear around many corners, the tour takes you to the coast with its famous Whitstable oysters and to the hop country at Faversham where you will find England's oldest brewery. Enjoy a Michelin starred restaurant, several iconic tea rooms, a farmers market, a local cheesemaker and fill your panniers with Mount Ephraim cherries, strawberries, plums, pears, apples and cobnuts if you have any appetite left. The cycling's not bad either!

Arty Tour: Whitstable - charming, vintage and boutique is the base for this two night arty tour. From your home on the beach, famed for its oysters, there is wonderful gentle pedalling adjacent to the sea and along the coast. Enjoy The Turner Contemporary at Margate, the mysterious shell grotto and several step back in time moments. Ride inland too along the old Saxon shore and along the best medieval street in England to Faversham with 500 listed buildings, a barge lined creek and its vibrant art and design community.

Challenging Tour: This two or four night tour is based on the 170 mile way marked Chiltern Cycleway which covers the entire Chiltern Hills from the Thames at Henley in the south west to Hitchin in Hertfordshire in the north east. Comprised of chalk, these very pretty hills are known for red kites, beech woods, soaring views, idyllic villages and inumerable hidden dry valleys. The cycling is challenging but rewarding and we have found a characterful selection of village inns for you stay.

Grand Tour: In celebration of the Olympics taking place in England, we have created this thirteen night grand tour of England taking in many of its historic sights. Starting and finishing in Oxford, The Grand Tour includes the world heritage sights of Stonehenge, Bath and Blenheim Palace, the iconic River Thames, the well loved towns of Stratford and Salisbury and the stunning hills and villages of the Cotswolds and Chilterns.
