KidSpirit Online Named Finalist in AEP’s 2012 Distinguished Achievement Awards

April 24, 2012 - PRLog -- KidSpirit Online (www.kidspiritonline.com), the magazine and social networking site for 11- to 16-year-olds, is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist in the 2012 AEP Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs), honoring the best in a range of products and resources used by teachers, parents, and students. The Association of Educational Publishers' annual awards program and its seal of excellence are widely recognized by educators, administrators, and parents as a mark of outstanding educational value.

KidSpirit, a non-profit magazine and Web forum that gives young teens a safe and inclusive outlet to dialogue about big life questions, is a finalist in two Periodicals categories: Whole Publication Design, for its issue “Creativity and Imagination”; and is nominated twice in the Feature Article category for “You May Begin: A Look at Standardized Testing” by teen contributor Katie Hartman, and “Thriving Starts on the Inside” by Peter Benson, the late President and CEO of Search Institute. KidSpirit adds this accolade to its finalist nomination in last year’s Golden Lamp Awards from AEP.

KidSpirit completes its fifth year in 2012, and is a unique resource for parents, teachers, and youth workers eager to encourage teen dialogue about life’s big questions in an open and unaffiliated forum. Among its many honors in the first few months of 2012 alone, KidSpirit was featured in the New York Public Library’s TeenLIVE reading series, given the Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council for its print volume the Best of KidSpirit Online, and has become a regular contributor to the Huffington Post.
