Yom Ha’atzmaut Takes Place on April 26th at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto

April 23, 2012 - PRLog -- The Oshman Family JCC (OFJCC) will host Yom Ha’atzmaut: Israeli Blend on Thursday, April 26 from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM. This free, community-wide event celebrates Israeli Independence Day with ethnic food, live music, line dancing, an Israeli fashion show, children’s activities and a guest appearance by Israeli superstar Idan Raichel.

With most of the 40,000 Israelis living in the Bay Area concentrated in Silicon Valley, the OFJCC is in a unique position to bring the community together for this anticipated holiday. Nearly 2,000 people came to last year’s event and organizers believe even more will come this year.

Yom Ha'atzmaut: Israeli Blend will feature the art, music and food of Moroccan, Russian, Armenian, Polish, Yemeni, Persian, North America and Ethiopian Israelis. Participants can taste Armenian cheese-filled burekas or Yeminite jachnoons, laugh at the hit Israeli comedy film "It’s a Matter of Size," enjoy activities and games for all ages and enter to win a raffle for one free round trip ticket to Israel.
