AJLI Cites Outstanding Junior League Programs at 90th Annual Conference in San Francisco

Awards highlight exceptional work in membership development, fundraising and marketing

April 24, 2012 - PRLog -- New York, NY – The 2012 Annual Conference of The Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. ended on April 21 with awards given to individual Junior Leagues for outstanding programs that sustain membership, enhance fundraising and demonstrate marketing techniques to support their community initiatives. Celebrating its 111th anniversary in San Francisco with more than 1,000 members from 293 individual Junior Leagues from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the UK, the conference theme was “Leadership Reimagined.”

AJLI President Delly Beekman said, “At the core of The Junior League Mission is a call to create lasting community impact through trained women volunteers who are committed to bring about change. These awards reflect the ingenuity and hard work our members bring to that task!”

The 2012 Junior League Award winners are:
•   Membership Development: The Junior League of Boca Raton, FL, for development of a curriculum for new members.
•   Vision: The Junior League of Hartford, CT, for a League-wide initiative to address hunger in Hartford.
•   Fund Development: The Junior League of Tampa, FL, for fundraising innovation.
•   Marketing: The Junior League of Long Island, NY, for its effective use of traditional and social media in a visibility campaign.
•   Community Impact: The Junior League of New Orleans, LA, for its innovative training program for nonprofit board members.
•   Leadership Development: The Junior League of Collin County, TX, for its program to immerse members in all facets of community and civic life.

Leagues receiving honorable mention for the awards were:
•   Membership Development: The Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties, NC, for its new membership advisor placement program.
•   Vision: The Junior League of Oklahoma City, OK, for its community-based financial literacy program.
•   Fund Development: The Junior League of Oklahoma City, OK, for innovations in its annual fundraising campaign.
•   Marketing: The Junior League of Kansas City, MO, for its successful holiday market.
