April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has introduced to the U.S. Senate a companion Tourette Syndrome bill, S. 2321, to H.R. 3760, which was introduced to the House of Representatives by Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ13) in December.

Like H.R. 3760, S. 2321 seeks to amend the Public Health Service Act to provide for the expansion, intensification and coordination of the programs and activities of the National Institutes of Health with respect to Tourette Syndrome. It also would establish regional centers of excellence across the country to conduct research into the cause, diagnosis, early detection, prevention, control and treatment of TS and associated disorders.

The New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders, the nation’s first center of excellence for TS, was established in 2004.
