Continental Underfloor are finalists for ‘Best use of Superfast’ at Cornwall Business Awards

April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- Thanks to Continental Underfloor’s innovative use of superfast broadband, news has spread quickly about the announcement of their short listing in the Cornwall Business Award category for “Best use of Superfast”.

Permanent full size Skype walls ‘connecting’ Continental’s Cornish offices, and interactive ‘water coolers’, are just two of the innovative ways that Continental has embraced superfast technology to benefit the business and reduce the communication gaps between Continental’s expanding office network. Paul Woodgate, Managing Director of Continental Underfloor explains:

“ ICT has always played a significant role in the development of the company, and during a period of expansion and recession, innovative and efficient use of technology is paramount. Coinciding with the opening of our first satellite office in Pool, we have fully embraced superfast so that we can serve our national customers better, and have world class communications between our offices. This ultimately save us time and money in a number of ways, such as enabling quicker and larger file sharing capacity and database access.

“ We have also fully integrated live streaming webcams across our network, such as our permanent Skype wall that allows real time insight into our offices, and an easy means to hold face-to-face meetings, regardless of real time distance between us. Our unique ‘virtual water cooler’ is a real talking point too, where people can get together and chat, even if they are in different offices.”

The winners of the Cornwall Business Awards will be announced on the 17th May at St Mellion International Resort, where Continental Underfloor will discover if it is a sprint to the finish line for the “Best use of Superfast” title.
