Shortcomings of Natural Cosmetics revealed by Modern Cosmetics
Sophia Mendelsohn, CEO of ModernCosmetics.com explained a few of the shortcomings of natural cosmetics that women might want to consider before they buy.
So while time has moved on and the mercury and alligator dung are no longer being used, nonetheless there are still chemicals contained in modern cosmetics that a lot of women would just as well do without. Now the new operative word in the latest hot cosmetics marketing trend to take root is (natural). Products that are making a lot of women feel better about what they're applying to their skin when they do their makeup.
So now the question more people are asking, is "With this new option available that on the surface appears to make such good common sense, why is it that standard cosmetics that contain so many synthetic substances continue to be so popular?"
In a recent phone interview Sophia Mendelsohn, CEO of ModernCosmetics.com was able to lend some clarity to the issue by explaining a few of the downsides of natural cosmetics that women might want to consider before they buy.
"In many cases it's not the coloring agents that are the problem with standard cosmetics, rather it's elements like binders and stabilizers that are being eliminated in order for them to qualify as natural."
"So they in turn tend to be more difficult to apply evenly, more prone to streaking and and you can also run into problems in other areas like natural cosmetics rubbing off on clothing."
"There's also something else to keep in mind here and that is that there is no government or industry standards in place to qualify what is in fact natural. So even what I would call the best of them in final analysis really are only about 70% natural products."
So he advises buyers to do some research before they shop and then read the labels carefully before they buy. Mr. Mendelsohn also suggests that they try out a few product for a while before they consider going "completely natural."
He also pointed out that a lot of the ingredients like zinc oxide and a handful of others that are contained in standard cosmetics come from the very same natural sources that today's newer natural cosmetics get their ingredients from.
