Philadelphia International Music Festival presents Free Concert at Historic Piano Factory

Fifteenth Anniversary of Festival continues celebration through series of local events, premier events, and “classical” love story!

April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- In 1997, Sandy Marcucci co-founded then “Strings International Music Festival,” a summer music program offering students of all ages and skill levels – from throughout the U.S. and abroad – the unique opportunity of spending 14 days immersed in classical music education and performance.

Fifteen years later, the Festival has grown from Marcucci’s property in Southern New Jersey to the beautiful, estate-like campus of Bryn Mawr College, and has expanded its outreach to all symphonic instruments, featuring a faculty of primarily Philadelphia Orchestra fame.  This called for a name change in 2010 to “Philadelphia International Music Festival” also known as PIMF.

Additionally, this year’s Festival will feature Cristian Macelaru, Assistant Conductor of The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Now the Festival is continuing its ongoing commitment to classical music by offering year-round programming, including additional onsite festivals globally, a series of local performances by esteemed faculty, alumni, and current participants, discounted ticket promotions for Philadelphia Orchestra concerts, as well as an aggressive strategy to provide musicians of all ages a platform for growth and development unlike any other in the industry.

To cap off an exciting 15th anniversary, Marcucci’s own daughter, Julliard graduate Madison Marcucci, will marry her childhood sweetheart and fellow PIMF alumnus, Robert Day III (who she met at the festival twelve years ago!) on June 23, 2012.

The exciting news of a “festival wedding” broke in February, at the monthly PIMF Solo Recital Concert held at the historic Cunningham Piano Company in the Germantown part of Philadelphia.  Day popped the question to the junior Marcucci following her performance of Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto.

The public is invited to this month’s Solo Recital Concert on Saturday, April 21, 2012 to commence at 7:00 p.m.  The concert program is set to include musicians ranging from six years of age to recent Julliard graduates, and will include performances of Bach, Vivaldi, Ten Have, and others.  Complimentary reception to follow.  While another proposal is not in the works, a myriad of unprecedented celebration is in the works and will be announced at the event, including the PIMF debut of a classical vocal performance.

In addition, a tour of the historic piano company is available to all beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Philadelphia International Music Festival requests that parties interested in the tour contact their office by noon on Saturday to ensure appropriate accommodations are made.
