Follow on Google News | Have a Mashing Good Time at the Fourth Annual Potato FestivalThanks to the Bunnell Chamber of Commerce and the City of Bunnell, the potato will have its annual day in the sun at the Fourth Annual Potato Festival Saturday, May 19. The event will take place in and around Bunnell City Hall from 10AM to 4PM.
By: Gretchen Smith Thanks to the Bunnell Chamber of Commerce, the City of Bunnell and the City of Bunnell Community Redevelopment Agency, the potato will have its annual day in the sun at the Fourth Annual Potato Festival Saturday, May 19. The festivities will take place in and around Bunnell City Hall from 10AM to 4PM. According to Michael Barr, chair of the Bunnell Chamber of Commerce, “The Potato Festival is a great annual event that allows us to celebrate Bunnell’s agricultural history while enjoying the city’s hometown hospitality.” The event is guaranteed to appeal to kids of all ages, with fresh, locally grown french fries, cold beer, vendors, live music, a cooking competition for politicians and a parade. Don’t miss the pageant to crown local “potato princesses” and “tater tots” starting at 10AM, or the mashed potato eating and sculpting contests, sack and relay races and other spud-related activities. All in all, the Potato Festival offers an inexpensive and family friendly opportunity to enjoy the day and celebrate Bunnell’s history. Here's the schedule of events: 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. 1:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sack and relay races 2:30 p.m. Vendors and contestants for the pageant will be accepted until May 11 at 5 p.m. All applications and entry forms can be picked up the Chamber or downloaded from www.flaglerchamber.org. Proceeds from the event will help fund small business grants.
