April 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Today, teens and adults alike can soak in a new RPG system based on a new post-King Arthur series and re-live the nostalgia of their favorite childhood legend.  Camelot Hobbies has released a set of ebooks (‘Steel vs Magic’ and ‘Magic vs Steel’) under the ‘Tactics Anthem’ brand based on the storyline in the ‘Armor of Light’ and ‘The Camelot Prophecies’ series.

Penned under the name of ‘Lady Antiva’ – a character within the story world, and of the Makidon class, this RPG is set to introduce players to updated character classes and skill-based advancements as part of the tour de force.

What stands out for this RPG is that it references heavily on Lady Antiva’s novel series and allows players to create the Character Classes based on the heroes of Camelot.  Since Lady Antiva is herself a character from the novel, there is an added sense of proximity as though she is fighting alongside you against the legions of Morganic army sweeping down towards Castle Camelot.  The landscape of this RPG is not about a generic warrior fighting a standard troll, or a travelling along a dull medieval make-believe place.  The RPG encourages players to re-live the novel’s events or create new scenarios based on the towns, counties and monsters that roamed Bretunia.  This is the proposition for the new players of Camelot – where you play as the QuestLord or a Knight, Galan, Mage Templar or Makidon.  With the additional mercenary class on the edge, this action-packed RPG should be sufficient to keep the adrenalin up, and pack in hours of fun for teenagers and adults.  The dice and advancement system will be familiar to players who have had RPG experience, while the skill-based structure would be something players of online RPG would understand intuitively.

You can find these Tactics Anthem RPG ebooks at amazon.com or smashwords.com as follows:

A fanpage has also been created for the associated game property where hundreds of fans have been signing up in the last two days.  Readers can leave their messages and thoughts on how the story (or game) should develop moving forward.  Readers can look forward to no less than 6 episodes in this new series.

At launch time, some reviews have started to appear on the amazon.com and smashwords.com site for these RPGs.  These have been extracted below verbatim as follows:

Smashword.com Review by: JS T on April 14, 2012 : 5 Stars
A nicely written manual to help one host game sessions and work out scenarios to play with.  An insightful manual that takes care to explain even to readers who are new to games oits genre.
It is a manual as well as a design document.

Was playing a cleric in ages past - and remembering that the buddies of old would probably swoon if they knew I am deciding to get back into the RPG action. But this one is tempting, least of all it is based on a slightly different system compared to D20 and also it features the Galan class, which I kinda like having read the backstory about it from the Knighthood (The Camelot Prophecies Vol #1 of 5) series. Certainly worth a try!

Must have been at least 2 decades since I last read an RPG manual of sorts from the good old days of table-top RPGs! This one uses the dice system but sets it in the Bretunic universe based on Lady Antiva's scripts and ebooks. A good book to link the adventure and the story and also to reminisce the fun times of wondrous RPG in the true sense of the word.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good - but takes a bit of getting used to, April 14, 2012

Having read quite a number of Lady Antiva's books, I had gotten to realize that she not only writes the fiction/novel but also likes to provide the background universe to the readers. This new ebook does more, it had translated the word into an RPG game. I don't have too much experience with table-top RPG but must say I enjoyed the materials provided within. I found it fascinating to read about the context of the plot and now have a better appreciation of the Camelot Prophecies.

About Lady Antiva
I am Lady Antiva, the new Makidon Guildmaster, recently promoted from being a Senior High Guildman (a too masculine term in my view). I live in Camelot city, and play a crucial role in chronicling various lore of Bretunia.  Hence, I have been bestowed the honor as being the co-author of 'The Book of Lore', deputy to Porthios, the Loremaster.  I am entrusted with the Guild Fellowship Staff, a tall slender rod of gold metal, encrusted with complex runes, impeccably carved, some small enough to cover with a finger yet more complex than a spider’s web. The top of the Staff is curled into a fanciful hook, a symbol of unity and brotherhood.  I can be reached at ladyantiva@gmail.com
