Reducing the Energy Bill at Taliesin West

April 11, 2012 - PRLog -- With an energy bill approaching $200,000 per year, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation commissioned sustainable energy consultant Big Green Zero to conduct an energy audit of the 500-acre Taliesin West property.

Energy Audit findings indicated that Taliesin West’s energy bills (and associated carbon contributions) could be reduced by 51 percent by making simple, relatively inexpensive conservation investments. Those investments are being made within the normal repair and maintenance process (and repair and maintenance budget).

By making energy efficiency improvements first, a 250 kilowatt solar system will be able to produce 100% of the property's annual energy requirements to achieve a “Big Green Zero.”

The energy efficiency improvements and installation of the 250 kilowatt First Solar system are currently underway as Big Green Zero and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation are partnering in the Energizing Taliesin West™ program (http://www.biggreenzero.com/big-green-zero-is-energizing-...).

According to Dr. Roth "Big Green Zero's energy audit work at Taliesin West demonstrates how a commercial energy bill can be substantially reduced with very little capital investment.
