April 10, 2012 - PRLog -- In February, Atlanta Festival Ballet performed Sleeping Beauty at the Lamar County Performing Arts Center.  “Every performance is special, but this show had a significant importance to us, because we were dedicating it to the survivors of the tornado that struck the area last year,” stated Jocelyn Buchanan, an Artistic Director with Atlanta Festival Ballet.

As the anniversary of the devastating tornado approaches, Atlanta Festival Ballet has donated a portion of their proceeds from the Sleeping Beauty Performance to the Barnesville-Lamar Community Foundation. “Nothing can change the damage caused by this horrific tornado, but Atlanta Festival Ballet hopes that their donation will help the survivors as they rebuild and restore their towns,” stated Gregory Aaron, an Artistic Director with Atlanta Festival Ballet.

Atlanta Festival Ballet is a culturally diverse company with a sincere interest in community outreach. The majority of Atlanta Festival Ballet's programming is directed toward children. As a Partner in Education with both Clayton and Henry county schools, Atlanta Festival Ballet performs before more than a thousand school-aged children yearly, most of them experiencing the magic of classical ballet for the first time.
