Malaysians Win Manga Awards and The Speed Traders Workshop 2012 Kuala Lumpur

April 9, 2012 - PRLog -- As reported by New Straits Times, three Malaysians won bronze awards in the 5th International Manga Award, which is aimed at further enhancing understanding of Japanese culture through Manga. Chong Chiew Choy, Chang Lee Ying and Tan Zien Yun were among the 14 award winners out of the 145 entries from 30 countries.

With 20 local cartoonists taking part, Malaysia was the country with the second highest number of entries with 21 submissions. The awards, which was first established in 2007, were presented to them by Japan Ambassador  Shigeru Nakamura at his residence here recently.

The ambassador admitted that while growing up in the 1960s and 70s, he had wanted to be a Manga artist as he was inspired by other young cartoonists at the time, especially Osamu Tezuka, creator of the popular Astro Boy.

Mr. Perez was a vice president at Citigroup, a senior consultant at IBM, and a consultant at McKinsey & Co. in New York City.  Mr. Perez has an undergraduate degree from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería, Lima, Peru (1994), a Master of Administration from Universidad ESAN, Lima, Peru (1997) and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School, New York, with a dual major in Finance and Management (2002). He belongs to the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. Mr. Perez resides in the New York City area and is an accomplished salsa and hustle dancer.
