For decades now, tourists have tended to think of Malaga as an airport or a port. Málaga was seen mainly as a gateway to the big sun, sea and sand destinations of the Costa del Sol such as Marbella and Torremolinos.

That’s certainly what the founder of Malaga Bike Tours, Kay Farrell, thought when she first arrived in Malaga in 2003. However, like many people, Kay was instantly charmed by such incredible monuments  as the muslim fortified palace, the castle, the lop-sided cathedral, the beautiful squares, and the exotic park. In May 2008, Kay, originally from Cheshire, England, founded the company Malaga Bike Tours and has since been revealing Malaga’s hidden delights by bicycle to tourists from all over the world. She says:

"I love the history of Málaga, its culture and customs, and the joie de vivre of the locals. Showing people around this city is a real thrill: there's so much more to it than first meets the eye. People are truly amazed by it!"

Over the past ten years, Malaga has undergone a renaissance and has slowly but surely become a worthy destination for city-breakers and holiday makers alike. With the newly inaugurated port of Malaga, the city offers the polish of modern, glitzy shops and restaurants combined with a rich cultural history dating back 3000 years with spectacular monuments at every turn.

Malaga Bike Tours offers a comprehensive tour of the historical city centre. It explores narrow arabic-style lanes, hidden squares, pedestrianised streets, boulevards and parks. There is also the promise of a break at a beach bar where people can sample some authentic tapas and try a glass of the local sweet wine. Along the way, Kay describes the local history, culture and colourful anecdotes about the people of Malaga - the ‘malagueños.’

The tours lasts approximately 4 hours, taking a very relaxed pace – suitable for anyone that knows how to ride a bike regardless of age. The city centre is completely flat and, with Málaga’s excellent climate, it is perfect for year-round cycling. Arguably, the Málaga Bike tour is far and away the most economical option for seeing the city in terms of both time and money. Thanks to the bicycle, visitors see parts of the city traditional sight-seeing tours just can’t reach. And that’s why Málaga Bike Tour’s motto is: “Malaga is better on a bike!”

As well as Malaga Bike Tours flagship Historical and Cultural City Tour, other tours on offer are: The Football Tour- sightseeing through a journey of the history of Malaga F.C. including a guided visit of the football stadium; The Nightseeing Tour; Two-wheel Tapas tour; The Market Day Tour; The Coastal Tour as well as customized tours for businesses, incentives and team-building.

Since the beginning, Malaga Bike Tours philosophy has been to offer visitors an unforgettable experience: four hours of interactive fun along with impeccable customer service. Malaga Bike Tour guides are native speakers of English, Spanish, Dutch, German and French. Malaga Bike Tours is the number one tour on Trip Advisor, is recommended in the Lonely Planet Travel Guide, and has taken part in numerous press trips and FAM Trips with the Tourism Office of the City of Malaga- testimony to the excellent service offered.
