UIC College of Dentistry’s Dr. Cortino Sukotjo Earns ACP Young Investigator Innovator Award

April 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Dr. Cortino Sokotjo, Assistant Professor, Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, recently was awarded the American College of Prosthodontics/ACP Education Foundation Young Investigator Innovator Award.

The award carries $25,000 in support. Its goal is to advance understanding of prosthodontic-related biological and/or materials systems, human behavior, cost and care of delivery, economic modeling, and quality of life investigations. Scope can be any area of science that contributes to the understanding of prosthodontic tooth replacement therapies.

“It is a very competitive process that supports research for the most promising of young prosthodontic faculty,” explained Dr. Stephen D. Campbell, Head, Restorative Dentistry. “Tino’s award was in response to his application to provide support for his research proposal.”

The proposal is entitled “In-Vivo Study of Novel Superhydrophilic Implant Surfaces.”

The University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry offers the DMD dental degree and various dental specialty degrees, and provides oral healthcare to patients.The College is located at 801 S. Paulina St. in Chicago. More than 320 students are in the DMD Program and International Dentist Degree Program. Specialty programs are offered in Orthodontics, Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with 80 postgraduate students enrolled across these programs.
