Brookhaven Rewarded for Reading. Students break another VT record!

The Brookhaven Learning Center in Chelsea, VT recently won a Children's Literacy Foundation Grant (CLiF) that entitles them to a $1000 worth of library books for their school!   Reading has become a huge focus at Brookhaven in recent years.  Twenty-one Brookhaven boys have read over 600 books so far this year!!  In fact last year they doubled the VT State Standards by reading almost 50 books per boy.
   
Brookhaven hosted a Literacy Event and Book Give-away at their Learning Center on Wednesday, April 4, 2012.  Duncan McDougall, Director of CliF, came and read to the children and each child in attendance received 2 new books.  Duncan then awarded Brookhaven its new library! Over 50 brand new books for the school!  A special thanks from Brookhaven to the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters for sponsoring this great event.
