"It's going to be a wild ride," said Webre. "Precocious little Alice will lead us on a raucous journey where things are not always what they seem."
This week, Pamela Taylor Tongg, Ballet Hawaii artistic director, and Lesley Young, Ballet Hawaii school coordinator are in D.C. for the world premiere. They will experience the ballet first-hand at rehearsals and bring the magic home to Honolulu.
Ballet Hawaii's Summer Intensive offers each student the experience of pre-professional dance training with an outstanding guest faculty. This year, student dancers may have the opportunity to work with exceptional guest artists from The Washington Ballet and participate in Ballet Hawaii's presentation of Alice (in Wonderland).
According to The Washington Ballet, "Never before has The Washington Ballet combined such forces to create a new ballet. From the revolutionary vision of Washington Ballet’s Septime Webre, designer Liz Vandal (Cirque du Soliel’s OVO), and composer Matthew Pierce comes a spectacularly reimagined take on Lewis Carroll’s classic story! Enter the magical world of Alice’s adventures, splendidly costumed, and gloriously danced…an unforgettable journey down the rabbit hole and the season’s grandest production!"
