-- Columbia, SC –Author and lifetime resident Sherri Fulmer Moorer has published an e-book titled Anywhere But Here that takes a fresh approach to depression. The book is a fictional depiction of a young college graduate that falls into depression when her life takes drastic and unexpected turns. The story takes a supernatural turn as an enchanted object sent to her by a friend brings her depression to life through an alternate universe where she must decide whether to succumb to her fantasies or to deal with reality.
Moorer has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of South Carolina. Her own career took her away from the mental health field and into administrative work; however, she has personally known many people that suffered with depression. “Depression is one of the top mental disorders in the United States and there are many books that deal with it,” Moorer says, “but I thought it would resonate with readers if they could see a less personal case scenario of the schism that happens in a depressed person’s mind between the reality they want and the reality they have. This is a work of fiction based on the accounts related to me by others and, of course, my own imagination, but I hope that readers will look within themselves and see a mirror to reality that can help them achieve victory.”
