April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The Internal Medicine Training Program inspection was successfully completed without deficiencies and the approval remains in effect until November 11, 2016.

“As a teaching hospital, Corpus Christi Medical Center offers a unique internal medical residency program in a challenging and rewarding academic environment. The American Osteopathic Association’s accreditation challenges the hospital to maintain the highest level of care”, says Dr. Steven L. Gates, Director of Medical Education.

On November 11, 2011, the program received accreditation after surveyors measured the Bay Area facility against a benchmark of 50 recognized standards.  The Internal Medicine Program currently has approval for 18 residents and anticipates growing more in the future.

“Corpus Christi Medical Center is committed to providing high quality health care to the community.  The approval of the Internal Medicine Training Program is an important achievement and one that Corpus Christi Medical Center should be proud of,” says Jay Woodall, Chief Executive Officer at Corpus Christi Medical Center.
