April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- NEW ORLEANS, LA -- There is a tension between mechanics lien claims (seeking payment) and bankruptcy filings (avoiding payment). Today, Zlien launches a blog series analyzing the relationship between these two types of filings.

The blog series is being published on Zlien's industry-leading Construction Lien Blog, which has written about mechanics lien laws since 2007.  The blog series will start today, and publish a single article per day on the topic until April 12th.  The blog series will address how the bankruptcy's automatic stay effects mechanics lien filings and foreclosure actions, whether a mechanics lien claim is considered "secure" in bankruptcy proceedings, and how filing a mechanics lien can be the difference between getting paid and not getting paid in a bankruptcy claim.

"Filing a mechanics lien is the most effective way to get paid, period," says Scott Wolfe, the founder of Zlien (http://www.zlien.com) and the founding author of the Construction Lien Blog.  "But, just how effective is it when someone on the construction project files for bankruptcy protection?  Is it still worth filing and pursuing?  That's the question we're looking to answer in the next week."

The mechanics lien and bankruptcy analysis is being authorized by Nate Budde, the company's Chief Legal Officer.
