Taken randomly during the everyday comings and goings of  rural family life,  Andie Wilkinson’s photographs bear witness to the fleeting beauty of those ordinary and incidental moments which can so easily pass us by.

After studying and working in London, Andie left her home & studio first for the mountains of Snowdonia, and then for South West France where she has lived and worked for the last decade. Her artistic practice has become increasingly integrated with raising a family and gardening.
Inspired by her relatively unkempt and remote surroundings, Andie offers us glimpses into a personal world on the edge of the banal and the fictional; Intimate yet strange, earthy and ethereal. The cycle of life, and a gentle human interaction with nature are recurring themes.

Mixing up new and old technologies, Andie likes to work with a variety of cameras, using digital compacts alongside 35mm SLR, toy cameras and Polaroid’s. Weather-beaten and dirty windows sometimes serve as a secondary lens.  

Andie Wilkinson studied at the Royal College of Art and has since exhibited internationally with work shown at Cubitt ,The Arnolfini & the Museum of Modern Art ,Sydney  amongst others. She was in 2010 selected by Alec Soth as winner of ‘From Here to There, Flickr assignment 3’ in collaboration with the Walker Arts Centre (Minneapolis).
